The MSV971 from Mustang Survival is a fully integrated life preserver and survival vest system, purpose-built for aircrew and pilots flying in demanding environments. Designed to be worn over flight suits, the MSV971 delivers 37 lbs. of buoyancy through a dual-chamber inflatable cell housed in a slim, Nomex®-covered flame-resistant collar.
Engineered for safety and comfort, this vest features a manual inflation system with a conveniently located pull handle, backed by oral inflation tubes on both front and rear chambers in case of damage to the primary cell. The unique internal floating baffle separates the chambers, enabling redundancy and stability. Upon inflation, the collar's zipper closures release automatically, allowing the buoyancy cell to deploy cleanly.
With a compact 3 lb. unloaded weight, the MSV971 offers ample customizable pocket space for survival tools like rations, lights, or signaling gear. The fire-resistant vest body is made of open mesh aramid fabric, reducing heat stress while maintaining durability. A built-in lifting harness, SOLAS-approved whistle, and buddy line ensure rescue readiness in over-water emergencies.
